In the 1920s, Hohner began manufacturing chromati charmonicas, which unlike the “standard” diatonic form can be played in any key. Famous harmonicist Borrah Minevitch claimed he sold his design for the chromatic harmonica to Hohner. In the mid-1950s, Hohner began producing electric guitars.
